As a sports mom who first love is basketball, I was very excited about this. This will allow so many kids the opportunity to attend Jr. Hawks Summer Basketball Camps that otherwise could not through scholarships. Awesome!!!!
HAWKS AND ATTORNEY KEN NUGENT ANNOUNCE “SCORE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS” PROGRAM
For Each Point Atlanta Scores this Season, Nugent will Donate $3 to Fund Entry into Jr. Hawks Summer Camps, Presented by Philips
The Atlanta Hawks Foundation and Attorney Ken Nugent are collaborating to increase access to Jr. Hawks summer basketball camps, presented by Philips, via the “Score for Scholarships” program. Through the partnership, Nugent will donate $3 for every point the Hawks score during the 2016-17 regular season, up to $25,000, to the Atlanta Hawks Foundation’s basketball camp scholarship fund.
“We are proud to partner with Attorney Ken Nugent to create greater access to the game we love,” said David Lee, EVP, Hawks External Affairs and Executive Director of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation. “As we march toward our continuous goal of building bridges through basketball, it is essential for us to create partnerships with people like Ken who are truly committed to the city of Atlanta.”
Approximately 1,200 youth attend Jr. Hawks camps each summer, with scholarships providing access for 25% of participants. Boys and girls ages 8-14 of all skill levels will participate in Jr. Hawks camps this summer. Programming will be spread across 11 locations in five metropolitan Atlanta counties.
“As a 30-year Hawks season ticket member, it is my privilege to support the home team off the court through the ‘Score For Scholarships’ program,” Nugent said. “The Jr. Hawks summer basketball camps are an important component of this city and the donation to the Atlanta Hawks Foundation is my way to stay #TrueToAtlanta.”
Registration for Jr. Hawks summer camps is now open. Participants will receive professional instruction from qualified coaches in a fun environment, as well as a camp jersey, shorts and arm sleeve courtesy of Point 3 Basketball, the official outfitter of the Jr. Hawks program. Camps will also feature appearances by current and former Hawks, and will provide a ticket to a 2017-18 Hawks home contest.
