I had the privilege to visit The Kroc Center Atlanta on Monday afternoon and to say I was blown away is an understatement. Nestled in the Pittsburg Community of Atlanta is this 53,500 square-foot worship, arts, education, and recreation facility.

Motivated by God’s love, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center – Atlanta expresses the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army by providing opportunities that facilitate positive life-transformation through worship, arts, recreation, education, and service.

Fitness & Recreation

Located on the North End of the building. The facilities include the gymnasium, rubberized walking track, dance studio, and weight training/exercise area that includes traditional strength machines, cardiovascular exercise equipment, personalized fitness programs and group exercise classes.

Programs

The program department strives to bring the highest quality programs, activities and service to every member of the community. Activities are designed for the entire family, as well as for each individual age group so every person’s needs are adequately met. As the center continues to expand and grow, new programs will continue to be added according to the needs and demands of the community.

Fitness & Recreation Courses

These courses are guaranteed to get all members of the family active. Courses will use our state-of-the-art gymnasium, rubberized walking track, dance studio, and exercise/weight-training area that includes traditional strength machines and cardiovascular exercise equipment to encourage the positive movement of the body’s muscles. Courses are free to members and cost $5 for potential-members on a drop-in basis unless otherwise noted. Course rates and class times are subject to change.

Family Literacy Program/GED Preparation

This robust program improves literacy and life skills for individuals and families seeking to meet their educational goals. The program provides support for literacy levels ranging from early readers through adult literacy and GED preparation. Space is limited. Applications are accepted year round, but enrollment is in August and January each year, so please fill out the attached application and submit it prior to enrollment dates.

Reaching Out To Read (Literary Outreach Events)

Reaching Out To Read is a series of literary special events from the Family Literacy Program and the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. These events consist of theme-based read-aloud and literacy activities for the entire family. Storytelling opportunities available.

KROC STARS Program (K – 5th grade)

This program is perfect for the child who is looking to expand their horizons in the field of performing arts. Elementary-aged children are dropped off or picked up from Gideon’s Elementary School and cared for until 5:30pm. Their day is filled with activities which include gym time, snack, homework, devotions, and art programming such as painting, drawing, dancing and music.

Camp KROC! (Themed Summer Day Camps)

It is never a dull day when school’s out if you’re at Camp KROC! Summer 2017 is again set to be an exciting camp! Kids ages 6 thru 13 are welcome to sign up for nine weeks of fun, learning and adventure at the KROC. Camp activities include sports, theater, music, dance, and visual arts. Camp hours are from 8:30am – 5pm. Before and after care are available from 7:30am – 6pm.

South Atlanta Corps

Your family is always welcome at The Salvation Army South Atlanta Corps.

The Salvation Army has been a part of the Pittsburgh Community since 1927, and we are happy to be your neighbors!

Since 1934, we have had a great church in Lakewood Heights, and it has moved into your neighborhood! You can rejoice with us as we worship together at the new Chapel and Performing Arts Theatre in the KROC.
