Sports Week in Review

Sports Corner

By Dawn Simmons - DWA Macaroni Kid Publisher/editor April 12, 2017

This weeks article is dedicated to a team that I have the pleasure of being a part of… GA United Showtime 2023.

As you all know, I am a sports fanatic and sports mom of a basketball playing son.  He was fortunate enough to join a team that is totally awesome.  GA United Showtime 2023 is an AAU basketball team in the 12U bracket.  These young men train hard and play harder and it definitely shows when they step on the court.

This weekend they did not disappoint at the Georgia Cup II in Suwanee, GA.  They played three (3) bracket games on Saturday and won each game by over 20 points each.  They played again Sunday morning in a game that reminded them they were African American young men but they totally rose to the occasion and won by a  score that left no doubt they were the better team.  Advancing to the championship game was no small feat and all their fans and followers were proud.

Final Game

Another opportunity for these young men to prove they are the best… facing a team we beat on day 1 was a little curious until we looked at the bench. Hmmm… he didn’t play the other day… neither did he… Yes! You guessed it RINGERS….  Unfortunately their plan didn’t work, GA United Showtime won 68-38.

GA United Showtime 2023 is a team of brothers and they are led by Coach Gary Lee and Coach JJ.  They are taught how to handle themselves on and off the court as young men.

This weekend we will be in Suwanee again at the Indi Hoops Tip-OFF Classic 2017.
