Time Management and the Single Mom

I am going to cut to the chase with this one…. It is hard and cannot be mastered, so stop beating yourself up!

As you know I am a single mom with two very active children in totally different things.  My son is 12 and into basketball.  He is plays on an  AAU basketball team and trains daily. We travel for most of his games so we are on the road almost every weekend and don’t get me wrong WE LOVE IT!.

Now my daughter is 8 and is pursuing an acting/modeling career.  She has been in front of several agents and scouts who have recently informed me that as school gets out (less than a month away) we need to be ready to GO! GO! GO!

Now for me… I am the publisher of Macaroni Kid DWA (as you all know), I am a licensed Realtor in the states of Georgia and South Carolina, the Founder/CEO of a non-profit “I’m All In” (which provides support to caregivers caring for family members with Alzheimer’s),the only child with a mom (Ms. Lil) who suffers from Alzheimer’s and a dad (WC) who cares for her in South Carolina and I am the Social Media/PR Manager for my home church Good Shepherd Community Ministries (SC).  I know I am forgetting something…. but you but you get my drift.

I have determined that I cannot fit everything in a 7 day week with only 24 hours in a day and neither can you.  WHat we can do is keep up with all the schedules and make everything work.  We juggle each day and week as it comes and not feel guilty about it.

STOP beating yourself up because the household chores did not all get done or one child has to miss a practice to attend the other child’s event.  It is life and all we can do is the best we can do.

I have found that the best way to manage everything for me is to through good old “Google”.  Everyone has a calendar and all their information is entered in and we all sync with each other.  My children's calendars sync with mine and I have even taught my dad to enter their appointments into their google calendar that also syncs with mine.  Before I commit to ANYTHING I look at the calendar on my phone and see if it’s ALL CLEAR!

If you are finding yourself stressed with hw to do it all…. RELAX…. BREATHE and work the best schedule possible and KEEP IT MOVING!!
