By Kaiser Permanente May 18, 2017

Commitment to creating equity in the healthcare workforce recognized by INROADS

In recognition of its commitment to fostering inclusion and equity in a workforce that reflects the highly diverse communities it serves, Kaiser Permanente, the nationā€™s largest integrated health system, has been honored as the Frank C. Carr Corporate Partner of the Year by the INROADS internship program. Kaiser Permanente has worked with INROADS since 1987, providing college students with meaningful opportunities to develop their professional skills in a business environment.

ā€œKaiser Permanente is very proud of our long-standing partnership with INROADS to connect young people from diverse backgrounds with opportunities to thrive in the professional world,ā€ said Ronald L. Copeland, MD, senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer. ā€œBeing recognized as INROADSā€™ Corporate Partner of the Year is a tremendous honor, and underscores our mutual commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion to improve the communities we serve.ā€

Among the examples of Kaiser Permanenteā€™s success with INROADS is the story of sisters Christina, Lauren and Tiffany Cooper, who all completed internships at Kaiser Permanente. All three are full-time employees in the healthcare industry and two are Kaiser Permanente employees in Georgia. The sisters are featured in this video.

Kaiser Permanenteā€™s work with INROADS demonstrates how the organization is investing in the healthcare workforce of the future, ensuring that the next generation of healthcare professionals ā€“ on the business and clinical sides ā€“ delivers high quality, affordable and culturally responsive care.

Kaiser Permanente partners with INROADS on nine-week internships that offer paid summer experience, scholarships, the opportunity for students to return to the program for consecutive summers and the chance to apply for positions with Kaiser Permanente when they graduate.
